The energetic buzz of Innibos 2024 is upon us!
From the 27th to the 29th of June 2024, Nelspruit will transform into a vibrant hub of South African arts and culture. Whether you’re a seasoned Innibos attendee or a curious first-timer, it always helps to have a guide to get you through the festivities in such a way that you make the most of your trip.
In this guide, we will equip you with all the knowledge to not just survive but thrive at Innibos 2024.
It All Starts with your Planning
Those who are regulars know that this 3 day event is one to plan for, especially if you want to do something on every day of the festival.
To start with, you need a place to stay. If you haven’t already book it, finding a comfortable home base should be your first step. At Pensao, our charming Nelspruit guesthouse offers guests warm hospitality and a convenient location close to the festival action (we are quite literally just up the road from the main festival grounds).
Next up is your transport. If you are travelling from the city and you really want to treat yourself, you can fly into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA). Otherwise, be sure to plan your road trip for the day before the festival kicks off, so you can be bright-eyed and relaxed before the event starts. As for your transport during your time at the festival, you can consider making use of the quick and affordable Innibos Park and Ride system for easy transportation between the festival grounds and popular Nelspruit spots.
Finally, you need your tickets. Purchase your Innibos 2024 tickets online or at the festival entrance. Remember, specific shows might require separate tickets, so plan accordingly and also keep in mind that this year the festival itself is going cashless.
Packing for Your Innibos Adventure
Nelspruit generally has warm, sunny weather during June, but that last week of the month can be cold and even rainy.
Here’s a handy packing list:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Breathable clothing for warm weather as well as some warmer clothes for those unexpected but not uncommon cloudy days.
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
- Refillable water bottle
- Cash (some vendors might not accept cards)
- Copies of your ID and festival tickets
- Phone charger and portable battery pack
- Rain jacket (unpredictable downpours are possible)
- A small backpack to carry your essentials throughout the festival.
Conquering the Festival Grounds
Innibos takes place at the Bergvlam venue. Here are some tips for making the most of the festival:
- Arrive Early for Popular Shows. This way you can get ahead of the crowds.
- Explore Different Stages: Don’t stick to one stage or one show. Take a walk around and see all that the festival grounds have to offer.
- Stay Hydrated: Make sure that you drink enough water and that you stay hydrated throughout the day.
Get into that Innibos Spirit
Innibos is more than just a festival; it’s an experience.
To make the most of it you can support the local food vendors. You’ll find all sorts of delicious foods to indulge in on the festival grounds. You can explore the many, many stalls selling the work of talented South African artisans, where you might find the perfect souvenir.
And you can mingle with fellow festival-goers by striking up conversations, sharing your Innibos experience, and embracing the spirit of community.
Innibos is a celebration of creativity and joy.
